Growing Clojure together
TL;DR
We’re starting regular online meetups to help Clojure reach new users and communities. Please you may add your availability and interests here.
Background
For the past few years, Scicloj has focused inward - building tools and libraries while growing our community through our mentoring program and other small group meetings.
Now in 2025, we are also looking outward, seeking to bring Clojure to new fields and users. We have been busy creating beginner-friendly tools, running workshops, organizing meetings at the various study groups, writing tutorials, building a starter toolkit, and launching a conference for new data use cases.
While Scicloj focuses on data science, we believe that growing Clojure as a whole helps everyone. Getting there will require looking and reflecting both inward and outward, and forming new collaborations around new ideas.
That’s why we’re starting macroexpand - regular gatherings where Clojurians can work together on bringing Clojure to new places.
Format
Each macroexpand gathering will focus on one area where we’d like to see more Clojure adoption - like education, research, academia, or art. Note these areas naturally overlap.
Meetings will run between 90 minutes and a few hours, mixing short talks with open discussion. We’ll record key parts and create clear next steps for follow-up.
We’re keeping things simple and informal to make it easy to join in, share ideas, and find others to work with.
Getting Involved
If you’d like to join upcoming gatherings, please fill out the poll below with your availability and interests. You can respond anytime – it will help us plan future meetings.
You don’t need to be a Clojure expert - we welcome anyone who wants to help.
